The Department of Medical Education is academic home to a cadre of educators committed to the pursuit of excellence in teaching and learning. The department strives to enhance the educational endeavors of all College of Medicine faculty dedicated to teaching medical students by sponsoring courses and programs which support the training of today’s health professional.

Members of the department work closely with the Office of Medical Education by participating in faculty development workshops, course and program design, and promoting the scholarship of teaching and learning.

The department stimulates innovation in teaching and best practices in medical education by encouraging its members to pursue intramural and extramural funding for educational research projects. Excellence in teaching is nurtured, promoted and celebrated by the department during annual recognition and award programs.
